Clifton Curtis "C.C." Williams, Jr., is a US military service pilot, test pilot, windup applied scientist, major of the Marine Corps, and NASA astronaut, who was killed in a plane crash; he never went to space. The crash occurred due to a mechanical dislocation of NASA's T-38 jet plane trainer, which he was flying to call his parents in Mobile, Alabama.
